Ukraine strengthens the fight against illegal casinos: PlayCity to block 824 websites

The Ukrainian gambling regulator PlayCity has submitted a request to block 824 illegal online casinos, according to the press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

“We are fighting against the shadow market of gambling and lotteries so that only legal companies operate in Ukraine. In two weeks of work, the PlayCity agency, which operates under the coordination of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, identified and submitted over 800 illegal casinos to the NCEC for blocking,” the press service explained.

They added that previously the Ukrainian state was losing up to UAH 10 billion due to the shadow gambling market. Therefore, the fight against illegal casinos is “one of the priority tasks of PlayCity.”

“We are working on automating the process to eliminate the human factor and fully digitize the sector. Very soon, you will be able to independently report illegal casinos through the PlayCity website. We are eliminating corruption and continuing to make the casino market transparent and controlled,” the Ministry of Digital Transformation added.
