Brazil plans to tighten control over gambling advertising

Brazil has submitted two bills that could potentially affect online casino advertising in the country.

The first bill, No. 2,985/2023, aims to ban online casino advertising in all media and channels in the country. The second draft law, PL 3,405/2023, is less radical and proposes to ban online casino advertising featuring athletes, teams, and other celebrities.

The initiator of the first law, Senator Carlos Portinho, said that the existing restrictions on online casino advertising in Brazil yield “few results.”

“The situation is getting worse. The advertising is massive and aimed at people who are often not even the target audience, like children,” he said.
