OpenAI's Sora is shutting down: What is known

The developers of the Sora neural network posted on X announcing that it is shutting down.

“We’re saying goodbye to Sora. To everyone who created with Sora, shared it, and built a community around it—thank you. What you did with Sora was important, and we understand that this news may be disappointing.”

Details are currently unknown, but the team promises to release all important information soon.

There is speculation online that this doesn’t mean “Sora” is completely gone. Perhaps it will simply be integrated into ChatGPT’s general functionality.

Sora is an AI model that OpenAI introduced in February 2024. It could generate images and create videos based on text prompts.
