Due to growing gambling addiction, a number of countries are restricting internet access for children

Due to the rapid spread of gambling addiction, a number of countries are restricting children’s access to the Internet.

The UAE is preparing to introduce measures to protect children from the influence of the Internet. This applies to both social networks and other digital services. The UAE has put forward a legal position on child safety. This indicates age control and restrictions on their digital activity in gambling.

The aim of the innovations is not only to eliminate unacceptable content for minors, but also to provide better conditions for their development and the ability for parents to control their children’s activity on the Internet.

Officials have been discussing how social networks and other platforms affect children’s mental health. Many have concluded that this hinders the proper development of children’s thinking and speech, impacts communication with parents and friends, and impairs their ability to focus on more useful things, etc.

A similar initiative has emerged in France. Recently, the French National Assembly passed a bill prohibiting the use of social media by children under the age of 15.

As Emmanuel Macron stated in his post on X: “Our children’s brains are not for sale — neither to American platforms nor to Chinese networks.”

In fact, this practice is not new to the world, but such restrictions are becoming increasingly popular. There is a high probability that they will begin to be implemented in most countries.

For media buyers, this means only one thing — carefully setting up their targeting and preventing ads from reaching minors. Otherwise, such ads may be blocked.
