One in 100 citizens in the UK refuses to play online casinos

Gamstop has published its annual report, in which it announced that since 2018, 1% of the total population has “gamestopped”.

The outgoing head of Gamstop, Jenny Watson, noted that the number of people registered in the self-exclusion scheme reached 560,000.

This fact was quite surprising, as this number significantly exceeded all previous expectations and once again emphasized the importance of the available self-exclusion option in the global gambling market.  

What is Gamstop?

Gamstop is a service created in the UK for those who want to take a break from gambling. If a person feels that gambling is no longer fun and has started to cause problems, he or she can register in the system on his or her own. After that, access to online casinos and betting sites in the UK is blocked for a selected period of time – 6 months, 1 year, or even 5 years. And the most important thing is that this is a mandatory block that cannot be canceled before the end of the selected period.
