Video Selfies on Facebook: How to Deal with Them?

Facebook’s video selfie is yet another method of account verification. Facebook uses it to determine whether a profile is run by a real person or a fake account or bot. The rationale behind introducing this verification step is quite clear, but it doesn’t make things any easier for many media buyers.

It is precisely this aspect that affects the work of many media buyers. So today, let’s talk about how to deal with Facebook’s video verification and ensure it doesn’t hinder the launch of your ad campaigns.

How to deal with Facebook’s video selfie?

First off, the video selfie doesn’t pop up every single time. There are certain factors that influence Facebook’s decision to verify you further.

Here are a few of the most common reasons:

  • You’re not using mobile proxies, you frequently change your IP, or your IP doesn’t match the GEO.
  • You removed the Facebook Page from the post.
  • Constant rejections due to aggressive creatives or other provocative elements in the campaign.
  • “Trigger” extensions. For example, poor anti-detection.
  • You’re duplicating by running identical creatives.
  • You changed your GEO. Facebook is particularly sensitive to this.

In other words, any actions that even slightly hint to Facebook about suspicious behavior lead it to you. But we understand that arbitrage and launching campaigns without any such incidents are incompatible. So now let’s talk about how to simplify this process and drive traffic with peace of mind.

To keep Facebook from haunting your worst nightmares, remember one thing: only the system can help you bypass the system. Your task is to mimic the behavior of a regular user. With constant tricks and sudden moves, you increasingly look like a bot in Facebook’s eyes.

Here’s the setup you need to minimize risks:

  • A king account that’s already established trust after a video selfie. Use old king accounts that already have a history.
  • Set up mobile proxies. With them, your account will look more like a real user’s profile.
  • Enable two-factor authentication if you haven’t already. The benefits: you’ll protect your profile from unwanted visitors and, at the same time, show Facebook that you’re a “real” user.
  • Set up backup admins in Business Manager (it’s best to have at least 2–3 accounts on different devices).
  • Don’t give Facebook full access. Limit permissions to just ads and content.
  • Add or create a fan page through Business Manager. Again, in this case, it’s better to use older pages and “warm them up” by generating activity there. Manual farming significantly reduces risks, which cannot be said about automation.

We’ve already written an article on how to pass Facebook’s video verification. There you’ll find a method that allows you to do this without showing your face.

In summary

It’s impossible to completely eliminate all risks, but they can be significantly minimized. In general, a video selfie in case of suspicious behavior is the best course of action. Often, your account is simply suspended for this, and that’s it—goodbye to months of scaling and hard work.

So, dear media buyers, we wish you fewer video verifications and more profit from your campaign launches.
