Top 10 Slots for Creatives with High Click2Reg by Timur, Founder of Apps4You
In modern iGaming media buying, there are two approaches: slots and crash games. And each has its own challenges:
- Crash traffic is easy and cheap to work with, and there are no issues with “low-quality” creatives. But achieving long player lifetime on an offer is difficult, especially with low retention;
- Slot traffic is becoming increasingly expensive (tests alone cost a lot of money), despite excellent Reg2Dep in Tier-1. At the same time, choosing the wrong approach can lead to poor Click2Reg.
My name is Timur; I’m the founder of the app development agency Apps4You, and in this article, I’ll explain which specific slots we recommend using in creatives to achieve excellent results.
In this article, we’ll cover:
- What your approach should be based on—what the best slots have in common and which game mechanics players are particularly drawn to;
- Which slots currently provide a steady stream of FTDs and a high click-to-registration conversion rate;
- My personal top GEOs for each of the 10 selected slots.
Let’s get started!
Why players demand exceptional returns from slots and how game mechanics have transformed the market
Let’s take the classic “Book” slot—Book of Ra—as an example, which just a few years ago delivered top-tier conversion rates. It’s a quintessential game, as well-known in the gaming world as, say, Coca-Cola:
Despite its cult status, the popularity of the original “Book” is declining—its place has already been taken by the well-known Book of Dead, which has completely copied the theme of the original slot:
Why is that?
Book of Dead outperforms its competitor not only in RTP but also in bonus mechanics. While the reward system in “Ra” is very simple—land the “book,” get a bonus—Book of Dead introduces a special “boost.”
Let me explain: in both games, the player lands the “book,” but it’s in Book of Dead that they’re rewarded with a much longer bonus round. Obviously, when choosing between an old classic and a more trendy title, the player will go for the latter.
So let’s start with Book of Dead—let it be first on the list of the top 10 options for the market.
The GEOs I recommend:
- Germany;
- Sweden;
- Finland.
This slot is generally aimed at experienced, veteran players, so it performs simply outstanding on Tier 1.
9 more slots that are definitely worth promoting and their key features
All of this is just the tip of the iceberg! It’s hard to please modern players, so almost every popular slot regularly gets updates, reskins, and sequels.
Let’s break this down using my personal top picks as an example.
1. Gates of Olympus
It’s no surprise that “Gates of Olympus” tops the list—it’s essentially the flagship slot of the current generation. The game went viral right upon its release because it combined the following features in a single slot:
- A complete absence of traditional paylines (think Book of Ra); wins could be triggered by a multitude of combinations. The key was to land eight symbols;
- A combination of Scatter and Tumble mechanics. This is a really cool idea because Scatters trigger free spins, while Tumbles—also known as “cascades”—remove winning symbols and replace them with new ones. This is what extends the gameplay session, provides a wild dopamine rush, and is generally a thrill for the player;
- In the original slot, you could win a 500x bonus. In later versions, the payout was significantly increased.
Almost immediately, Pragmatic Play began pushing to increase the payouts—they released new versions of “Olympus”: Super Scatter and Gates of Olympus 1000. Largely thanks to this, interest in the game didn’t wane but only grew. Constant slot updates are a sign of a strong game studio.
Every offer you run is sure to include “Olympus,” and almost certainly all of its versions. Therefore, in your creatives, you can emphasize both a generous welcome package for players—if you’re a fan of the classic slot approach—and the game mechanics.
Those same “cascades” in the creatives evoke positive emotions in players because they’re more than just a simple spin.
What an Olympus-themed slot traffic app might look like
I’ll show you a couple of examples of apps we’ve created at Apps4You. The first app is Gates of Olympus for Android:
In the design, we focused on gold elements, a prominent character, and slot mechanics, which is why cold traffic converted exceptionally well. The approximate Inst2Dep was 25%, and the app remained in the store for 1.5 weeks.
The second app in the same theme for iOS looked like this:
Here, the design is much softer—thanks to a less aggressive presentation, the creative was ideal for the App Store, but the conversion rate was noticeably lower than that of the Android version.
The Inst2Dep was approximately 19.6%, and the app managed to stay in the App Store for 2 months.
GEOs where I recommend using the Olympus approach:
- Brazil;
- India;
- Turkey.
Overall, in this case, it’s a good strategy to test the waters a bit and draw conclusions.
2. Sweet Bonanza
At first glance, the similarities between Sweet Bonanza and “Olympus” aren’t that obvious, but the principle behind both titles is the same—Pragmatic Play’s signature style is very easy to recognize.
Bonanza has the same set of key features—including the cluster payouts I mentioned above, as well as “tumbles” and “scatters.” The main difference, of course, is in the design. Plus, Bonanza has a highly recognizable candy theme—which you can and should use in your creative materials.
Players generally find Bonanza’s gameplay simpler than Olympus’.
GEOs I recommend:
- Mexico;
- Peru;
- Philippines.
Don’t forget that “Bonanza” has also undergone a series of updates—in version “1000,” the maximum win was bumped up to x25,000, and in Super Scatter, it’s even higher at x50,000.
3. Big Bass Bonanza
And this is yet another title from Pragmatic Play that has nothing in common with Candy except for the word “Bonanza.” The key mechanic in “Big Bass” is very simple—every 4 wilds award 2 free spins and increase the multiplier, gradually building it up from x2 to x10. Players really love it.
People love it so much that there’s a lot of buzz surrounding “Big Bass” releases—last year alone saw the release of nine fishing-themed titles.
It’s clear that fishing as a key visual element is a surefire way to boost revenue, and you can test absolutely any fishing slot from the list available on the platform.
The GEOs I recommend:
- Poland;
- Germany;
- Canada.
4. Starlight Princess
This is Pragmatic Play at its best; the only significant differences are in the design. There are Super Scatter and 1000 versions, which perform just like the studio’s other titles.
Recommended GEOs:
- Indonesia;
- Thailand;
- Brazil.
5. Wolf Gold
This slot stands out thanks to its cool Hold&Win mechanic, simple 5×3 grid, and easy gameplay, so it mainly attracts inexperienced players who are just getting into slots.
The slot’s simplicity offers broad potential for creative work; the visuals aren’t overloaded, resulting in excellent conversion rates.
Recommended GEOs:
- Canada;
- Norway;
- Poland.
6. Sugar Rush
A relatively new slot that’s quickly gaining popularity thanks to its vibrant visuals and straightforward mechanics. In your creative content, you can emphasize the big wins that made this slot popular in the first place.
Visually, Sugar Rush is somewhat reminiscent of Sweet Bonanza, but it’s simpler in design.
GEOs I recommend:
- Brazil;
- Argentina;
- Spain.
7. Fruit Party
Another reimagining of the “fruit” theme, featuring frequent wins, a high RTP, and popularity among players.
GEOs I recommend:
- Italy;
- Portugal;
- Chile.
8. Buffalo King Megaways
Even at the dawn of its release, Megaways proved to be such a powerful mechanic that its creators patented it and later began selling licenses to other studios. Here’s how it works: a random number of symbols appears on each reel, which determines the number of winning combinations. As a result, the sessions are simply out of this world—the slot mentioned above has approximately 200,000 ways to win.
This slot also has an amazing free spins feature; be sure to play the demo before driving traffic to it so you can dive deeper and experience it for yourself.
This is a top-tier slot.
Best GEOs:
- USA;
- Canada;
- Australia.
9. Aztec Magic
The best option for Latin America and the only slot in the top list not developed by Pragmatic Play.
The classic version of “Aztec” is very simple and easy to understand, but there’s also a Megaways version with “sticky wilds.”
It’s a very solid title because it combines a simplified game board with popular mechanics.
Best GEOs:
- Mexico;
- Colombia;
- Spain.
What video creatives to use for this list of slots + common mistakes
I highlight three key approaches in creative content:
- Creatives with a clear demonstration of gameplay. CTR is higher than with static ads, and creatives can highlight the interesting features of each specific slot—characters, game mechanics (like Megaways). The main thing is not to overload the visuals;
- Creatives featuring gameplay highlights. Classic videos featuring big wins from streams.
- Narrative creatives. The main goal of such a video is to entice the user to click. Here are a couple of examples with simple plots:
- A woman in tight-fitting clothes stands at an ATM and plays slots. She hits a big win and immediately withdraws the cash;
- A wealthy man in a car hands a homeless person a phone with a casino app open. The homeless person wins and becomes a wealthy man himself.
There are countless ways to work with these creatives; the key is a “clickbait” storyline.
What shouldn’t you definitely use, or major mistakes
- Don’t promote little-known slots—it lowers conversion rates. Players won’t choose a game they’re unfamiliar with;
- Don’t ignore the specifics of the GEO. For example, Aztec might deliver top results in Latin America but much weaker ones in other GEOs;
- Always test several hypotheses—that’s the foundation.
Conclusion: What should you base your slot selection on?
Look for games with dynamic and popular mechanics, and maximize their potential in your creative assets. Make sure the product offers a welcome package with player bonuses that’s competitive in your GEO. Don’t promote games with poor, frankly weak visuals.
That’s all!
